Get to know Haboba’s House
Our Name
Haboba’s House is more than just a name – it’s a reflection of something every person holds close to their heart. Whether you’re living in Sudan or part of the first or second generation abroad, we all have deep ties to our haboba’s house – the home of our grandmother.
Haboba is the heart of the family; she keeps traditions alive, brings everyone together and quite simply, runs the show! Her home is a place of safety, comfort and unconditional love.
By naming our charity Haboba’s House, we honour that powerful symbol and aim to repair homes so they can once again become places of warmth and love for families who have lost so much.
Words From the Founder
“As an architect, I’ve come to understand that a home is far more than just walls and a roof – it’s a place of safety, identity and memories.
It has moved me profoundly to see my own people displaced and stripped of that basic foundation. I feel compelled to act – not only as a Sudanese – but as someone who believes in the power of restoration.
That’s why I started the Haboba’s House Initiative: our mission is to help repair the damage caused by the conflict in Sudan – not only rebuilding homes, but also the stability that the Sudanese people deserve.
This is for Sudan. This is for home. This is for haboba.“
