Essma is raising funds for Haboba’s House to rebuild the Braille printing room at Al Noor Institute, a school and home for blind and visually impaired students, so they can keep learning, growing and building independent futures.

Salaam (peace) and hello, my beloved friends and family!
I’m at the finish line! I’ve completed my MBA at Oxford and am marking another turn around the sun with my birthday. To celebrate, instead of buying me a gift, I’d love for you to contribute to this fundraiser to help build a braille print room to print books for blind children across Sudan.
Throughout my degree and my past two years of living globally, one reflection that has constantly come up for me is the concept of privilege — privilege in health, finances, passport mobility, and so much more. I’m so grateful to have had the ability to trek borders and grow intellectually, emotionally, and in so many ways.
I’d like to use this milestone to pay it forward to others — in particular, blind children affected by conflict in Sudan.

The total cost for this project is $7,030. I am aiming to raise a total of $8,000 to cover the full project costs, processing fees, and a cushion for any unexpected price fluctuations in construction materials. Any excess funds remaining after project completion will be directed back into Haboba’s House’s general fund to support the reconstruction of other homes, schools and communities in Sudan.
Why this matters now
Due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan, the main braille print room in Sudan was destroyed. Until this room is reconstructed, blind children in Sudan have no access to schoolbooks nor the ability to keep up with their classmates or academic progression.

The room must be completely restored — its equipment, materials and workspace rebuilt so braille printing can resume.

Once restored, it will again print braille school books matched to the updated curriculum, reaching children at the school and across Sudan.
